Damascus Folding Pocket Knife

The Various Features Of A Ninja Sword

There are two conflicting theories on what a Ninja sword actually looked like. One theory is that each sword used by Feudal Japan's Ninja warriors were unique, a concept that has been embraced by Hollywood. Another theory is that the Damascus Folding Pocket Knife were not unique so as not to attract attention from casual observers. This is because the Ninja were mainly spies and occasional assassins. This article explores what the market for Ninja swords currently looks like.

The Ninjato sword is straight-bladed, and quite similar to the Samurai sword known as the Katana. However, these Ninja swords were often inferior to the Samurai swords as they were made using inferior steel. A possible reason for this is that in Japan, the Ninja were considered a lower social class that could not afford to hire a skilled smith. Additionally, their own sword smiths had no access to the necessary resources for making curved edge swords with well-constructed blades. A Ninja overcoming a samurai would require great skills. A Ninja sword was used in a different manner than the Katana, and was made more as a tool as opposed to a weapon of art.

Although Ninja swords were manufactured shorter than Katanas, they had many more uses. For instance, the scabbard was usually made between 3 and four inches longer than the actual sword. There was a hidden compartment at the end of the scabbard that was for hiding small weapons like spikes, small amounts of poisons, or daggers. Another use of the sword was that it could play the role of a small step. By jamming it into the ground, the Ninja could use its hand-guard as a step for getting the extra height needed to scale a wall. Since the blade was not that sharp, the warrior could use it as a hammer through carefully holding onto the blade and hitting using the handle. Additionally, with Ninja swords it was a common thing to have the scabbard's tip come off in a way that it could be used as a snorkel.

The long Damascus Folding Pocket Knife used by the Samurai was made using high carbon steel, and making it took several months. For each samurai, they were hand made with great care taken to come up with a sword of very high quality. Samurai swords were so sharp they could easily cut a warrior's opponent into two, even when they are wearing body armor. The samurai sword's length averaged between 26 and 37 inches.

The Ninja sword was significantly shorter, at only 24 inches, with its quality much poorer. A possible reason for the poorer quality was the manner in which the Damascus Folding Pocket Knife were used in comparison to the way the samurai used theirs. The samurai would swing their swords, slashing at the opponents and severing limbs. On the other hand, the Ninja utilized their swords more in stabbing motions. To use the Ninja sword effectively, a sawing motion would have to be used when the blade comes into contact with an opponent's flesh.
